Greetings
I'm Dr. Kuni Beasley, Founder and Dean of the NEW American School, Inc. The NEW American School is the fruition of a vision I had in the early 90s.
I have taught college courses since 1988 and saw firsthand that many students lacked the academic foundation, the emotional maturity, and even the basic tools to succeed in college.
I have been involved with elementary and secondary education since 1994 and witnessed firsthand how conventional programs in both public and private schools teach students a lot of what to learn, but very little on how to learn — handicapping them academically for further education.
Recent statistics validate my impression of this handicap. According to Scientific American Mind, December 2007, more than 52% of students who enroll in college do not graduate! More than half drop out!
In 1996, I decided to do something about it. I was not going to wait for the education system (public and private) to do something because by the time something was done, I'd be up in my years looking a system that was solving today's problems tomorrow.
I decided to climb out of the "box" without waiting for someone to give me a ladder.
I needed to solve tomorrow's problems today — and build the next generation of leaders who can take care of my country and… take care of me.
We have proven that students can learn better and faster if given the tools and surrounded by supportive grown ups.
We have proven that students who learn these tools and follow our program can complete middle school in half the time, complete high school 2-3 years early, and even earn significant college credits before they graduate high school.
We have proven that students who pay attention, follow instructions, and simply do the work in a disciplined, responsible manner can and will move beyond the mediocrity of their "peer groups" and assume leadership — first for themselves, and then for others.
We want to develop the next generation leaders who are equipped not only for higher education, but a generation that has the character, independence, self-reliance, and motivation to lead this country in the days ahead.
We want to stop raising children and start raising adults... who will take leadership at an early age.
We want to find people who do not want to settle for mediocrity for their children and are willing to do something about.
If you want this for your student and you are willing to do what it takes to do it, then you need to find out more about us and let us find out more about you, and together we will prepare a path for success for your student. —Dr. B. |
